On the occasion of the new academic year and under the generous patronage of His Excellency the Dean of the Faculties of Knowledge, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mulhim
Yesterday, Sunday: 11/5/1435 AH, corresponding to 08/31/2014, Al-Maarifa Colleges of Science and Technology held a welcoming ceremony for new students for the new academic year 1435 AH - 1436 AH, where the program began with verses from the Holy Quran recited by the student Muhammad Asim. The ceremony then continued, with the dean giving a speech in which he welcomed his new students, explaining to them the goals of the colleges and some of their future plans, urging them to be serious, diligent, and keen to be a good building block of Saudi society and the Islamic nation.
Then came the speech of the college’s representative for admission, registration, and student affairs, Dr. Yasser Al-Turki, who renewed his welcome to his new students, his sons and daughters, stressing the need for the student to be informed of the college’s systems and regulations, and the student’s rights and duties through the college’s website, as well as stressing to the students the necessity and importance of following up and continuing access to the portal. Email is provided to the student from time to time to follow up on everything the student receives via his email, which is considered the official means and basis for communication with the college and its various departments.
After that, the President of the Student Council, Bassam Al-Saeidan, gave a speech to the students, in which he talked about the colleges and the cultural, social, and enrichment activities they provide to students that benefit them, calling on new students to join the council’s committees.
Then Dr. Hani Al-Nawafleh, the general supervisor of the preparatory year, began giving his speech, in which he talked about everything that concerns the new student regarding his academic affairs. He began by introducing the subjects that the new student should pass, passing through the academic movements and introducing them, such as deletion and addition, postponement and apology, as well as absence and how to calculate it. Then he referred to the existence of an academic guidance department and the important role it plays.
Then the opportunity was opened for male and female students to ask questions to the Deanship of the College to clarify all the rules and regulations they wished to know.
At the end of the ceremony, the students were divided into groups, and the brothers in public relations took them to learn about the college facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, and the college library. Then everyone was invited to eat breakfast, after which the students left, carrying briefcases about the college and its annexes.
