His Excellency the President of Al-Maarifa University, Dr. Walid bin Hussein Abu Al-Faraj, inaugurated the Research Follow-up Platform (RMS) to support scientific research and follow up on data and statistics on scientific publishing in global databases and the second phase of the cooperation agreement with Taif University to enhance cooperation in the fields of scientific research, exchange experiences and knowledge, and develop the research environment. His Excellency Dr. Walid Abu Al-Faraj stressed that the launch of the (RMS) platform for scientific research at Al-Maarifa University is a continuation of the university’s efforts and its strategic vision to be a pioneer in preparing and qualifying distinguished educational outcomes scientifically, cognitively and skillfully, and to be the incubating environment for creativity, innovation and scientific research, and to play an active role in serving the community. Contributing to building a knowledge economy in order to contribute to achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Dr. Walid stated that the Research Follow-up Platform (RMS) aims to improve the scientific publishing environment and follow up on the scientific production of the university’s team of professors and students. It contributes to identifying weaknesses and strengths, knowing the quality of scientific research and statistics, and enhancing presence in international research platforms and journals.
His Excellency the President of Al-Maarifa University said that the university’s orientation to pay attention to and support scientific research comes in light of the great development witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this field, as the Kingdom ranked 25th in the world with the highest share of countries in scientific research, and topped the Arab countries in research in specialties related to chemistry. And sciences, physics, biological sciences, and earth sciences. In addition, the Kingdom has witnessed a group of transformations in the field of scientific research and innovation, the most important of which is the establishment of a body called the “Scientific Research, Development and Innovation Development Authority,” as well as Vision 2030 that stressed the importance of scientific research to achieve progress and development in all fields. In addition, the Kingdom topped the Middle East countries in the field of scientific publishing on the Corona epidemic and achieved 14th place in the world, and this had a major role in the Kingdom’s distinction and management of the Corona pandemic, joint work with developed countries, and learning about the ongoing developments and global protocols in combating the pandemic, and the Director of Al-Maarifa University stated that Saudi universities achieved significant growth in the field of scientific publishing, as they were able to publish more than 33,000 scientific papers in 2020 AD.
