For the second time in a row, Al-Maarifa University added a new global achievement after it was able to maintain and strengthen its presence in the list of the best universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022, where it was ranked in the rank range (300-201) globally. Out of (1406) universities in (106) countries, it is ranked (4) locally out of (22) Saudi universities, and (9) among (162) Arab universities. This achievement comes as an extension of the university’s multiple global achievements in academic classifications, after the university previously achieved a global presence in the QS global classification.

Commenting on this achievement, His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Walid bin Hussein Abu Al-Faraj said that this achievement is an incentive for us to continue improving the university’s educational, research and community outcomes. Let us, as an academic institution, contribute to achieving the vision of the wise leadership led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince - may God protect them - aimed at enhancing the global competitiveness of Saudi universities.

For his part, His Excellency the University Vice President, Dr. Nasser bin Ali Al-Jarallah said that despite its relatively short lifespan, the university - thanks to God - achieved local, Arab and international achievements that shortened its time, which enabled it to line up with international universities with high competitiveness. As a result of the support of the wise leadership - may God support it - and the follow-up of the Ministry of Education, in an effort to achieve an educational system that contributes to the building and renaissance of the nation, so that Saudi universities are among the best in the Arab world and internationally.

It is worth noting that the Times World Classification is an indicator for evaluating universities in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and is based on precise criteria that are carefully applied. To provide a comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, supervision, awareness, and education, in a manner commensurate with the nature of each of the 17 goals.
