About the program

Health Information Systems Specialization

The Health Information Systems program prepares graduates for an interdisciplinary career drawing on the disciplines of computing and public health. This profession focuses specifically on basic and advanced computing technologies that serve to manage and process health data in a way that helps healthcare providers serve patients in a safe and efficient manner. The Health Information Systems program seeks to train students at the highest level of accredited and licensed health informatics. The program will prepare students to become health information technology professionals ready to work in information technology for health service providers such as hospitals.

The scope of preparation and practice of the Health Information Systems program enables graduates to compete with graduates of other public and private universities in obtaining competitive jobs in all sectors of government and private health care providers.

Graduation Requirements

Obtaining a Bachelor of Health Information Systems degree requires achieving the following:
Successfully completing at least four years of study, which is equivalent to 140 credit units. So that the student successfully completes a number of approved study units from general education courses at Almaarefa University, a number of approved study units from compulsory courses in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and a number of approved study units from specialization courses according to the student’s specialization. Completion of the graduation project (in two stages) during the fourth year.
