Al-Maarifa University hosted the International Volunteer Day 2019 ceremony and the accompanying exhibition with the participation of the Directorate of Civil Defense in the Riyadh Region, under the generous sponsorship and in the presence of the Governor of Diriyah, His Highness Prince Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, on Thursday, 12/05/2019 AD, and in the presence of the Director General of Civil Defense in the Riyadh Region, Major General Khalid bin Nasser Al-Harqan, and senior officials in the Civil Defense Directorate and various government departments in Diriyah Governorate.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency the University President, Professor Dr. Walid bin Hussein Abu Al-Faraj, His Excellency Dr. Nasser Al-Jarallah, Vice Dean of the University, His Excellency Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Zamil, Dean of Admissions, Registration and Student Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al-Yamani, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, His Excellency Dr. Fahd Al-Zamil, Director General of Administration, and the heads of academic and administrative departments at the university. .
The ceremony began with a fragrant recitation from the Holy Qur’an, recited by Mr. Imad Sayyah, then a speech was given by His Excellency the Director of Civil Defense in the Riyadh Region, Major General Khaled Nasser Al-Harqan, followed by a speech by the Saudi Peace Search and Rescue Team, Mr. Muhammad Al-Alit, and then student Rashidan Al-Rashidan presented a speech by student volunteers at Al-Maarifa University.
The late Professor Rayan bin Ashraf Al-Itani, may God have mercy on him, was then honored from the Saudi Peace Search and Rescue Team, and a video was shown about the activities of the volunteer teams in the Riyadh region. Then His Highness sponsored the honoring of the volunteer teams by the Civil Defense and concluded the honor with special thanks to the Governor of Diriyah, His Highness Prince Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud for his constant support, and to His Excellency Professor Dr. Walid Abu Al-Faraj, Director of Al-Ma’rifa University, for hosting and organizing the event.
In conclusion, Dr. Muhammad bin Jaber Al-Yamani, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, presented a valuable lecture on volunteering, during which His Highness toured the exhibition accompanying the event with the audience.
This honorable occasion comes within the interests of Al-Ma'rifa University in participating and expanding the scope of community service on a broader scale, and the benefits it achieves, including motivating male and female students to volunteer.
Knowledge welcomes the honor of His Highness the Governor of Diriyah and senior officials in the governorate and their visit to the university.
