Program Mission
To prepare high caliber participants in knowledge-based society; and to motivate creativity, excellence in research, education, and community service in EMS.
Program Goals
- Prepare competent entry-level Paramedics able to perform basic and advanced skills related to assessment, stabilization and management of acutely ill and/ or injured patients in prehospital setting
- Provide a positive Learning Environment to assure students’ academic achievement and success
- Reflect professionalism, self-learning, and self-development, good communication skills, leadership, critical thinking, ethical attitude, and accept responsibility
- Participate in health education activities related to illness and injury prevention & Advocate for individuals health needs and have influential role in its communities
- Perform basic and advanced life support skills (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NLS, and PHTLS)
- Value scientific research, evidence-based practice and quality assurance
Degree Requirements
- The successful completion of a minimum of four years of study (143 credit hours) for Emergency Medical Services. This is by successfully completing a number of accredited units from the General Curriculum at Al-Maarefa University, a number of accredited units from the compulsory courses taught at the college of Applied Sciences as well a number of accredited units from the chosen discipline.
- Successfully complete clinical training during the residency year (no less than 48 weeks of training 2 credit hours). During this year, the student will practice the knowledge and skills he has gained through clinical practice in a hospital and red crescent.
