On my own behalf and on behalf of my colleagues, I am pleased to welcome you to the website page of the Respiratory Care Program at Almaarefa University. Respiratory care is a health specialty that focuses on enhancing cardiopulmonary function, examining and rehabilitating patients with heart and lung diseases. Respiratory care specialists use modern, evidence-based scientific principles to identify, treat and prevent acute or chronic dysfunction of the cardiopulmonary system. The Respiratory Care Program at Almaarefa University consists of specialized faculty members who are renowned scientifically and practically, and a building equipped with the latest educational and therapeutic technologies and equipment, in addition to providing clinical practices in the best medical centers. The department is proud of its distinguished and competent graduates and its proactive and proactive students in scientific forums and community service.

Program Mission

Preparing respiratory care students to meet modern professional requirements, in a professional academic environment that encourages initiative and leadership and excels in community service.

Program Goals

  • Qualifying students to become competent respiratory therapists to meet the faculty and community expectations, Saudi Commission for Health Specialties standards, and international recognition for respiratory care practitioners.
  • Providing professional development methods such as communication, conflict and stress management, and time management to promote professional growth in respiratory care.
  • Create and support an environment that encourages research to conduct special research in basic and clinical respiratory care sciences.
  • Provide and maintain a high level of community services and patient education.
  • Providing an appropriate educational environment to gain good experience (such as lectures, practical exercises, and clinics).
  • Providing the necessary academic and clinical training to students to enable them to achieve recognized goals in the field of professional competencies.

Degree Requirements

  • Successfully completing at least four years of study (140 credit hours in the respiratory care specialty) so that the student successfully completes the accredited study units from general education courses at Almaarefa University, a number of approved study units from the compulsory courses in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and a number of accredited study units form the Respiratory Care specialty courses.
  • Completing clinical training in the internship year (no less than 48 weeks of training), during which the student practices the knowledge and skills he has learned in his studies through practical clinical application in a hospital.
