introduction
The industrial engineering Specialization is considered one of the important Specializations in engineering, and the industrial engineering program at Almaarefa University has been designed to offer a modern, high-quality program that provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills in physics and mathematics, and the use of computers to develop their abilities, and apply them effectively in engineering majors in general, and in Specialization in industrial engineering in particular. The graduate of the Industrial Engineering program obtains an excellent background in scientific and technical foundations, integrated knowledge and skills in the field of applied sciences including engineering sciences, industrial engineering and responsibilities associated with production systems (manufacturing and services). The program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the four main areas of specialization: manufacturing systems engineering; industrial process systems engineering; human factors engineering; and quality, safety, and maintenance systems engineering.
The graduate of the Industrial Engineering program at the Faculty will be qualified to work in general and factory engineering jobs as an industrial engineer. These jobs include sub-specializations of industrial engineering (process engineer, manufacturing engineer, safety engineer, quality engineer, maintenance engineer, production engineer, cost engineer, project engineer). The field of work of an industrial engineer includes the fields of research and development, design of systems and equipment, safety and maintenance, operation, quality, and other fields related to industrial engineering. The graduate of the program can also continue higher education after the bachelor’s degree.
The program's study plan includes a number of methodological courses distributed over five academic years, including a year of general preparation. In order to obtain a science degree in industrial engineering, the student must successfully complete 165 credit hours of study (five academic years). The program begins with the general preparation year (first year: level 1 and level 2), which contains an intensive English language program that enhances students’ English language skills, in addition to other knowledge and skills in general and basic sciences such as mathematics and computer skills, chemistry and physics, Islamic studies and Arabic language skills. The next four years (levels 3-10) include Faculty and specialization requirements, and include compulsory hours for all engineering departments, specialized core courses for industrial engineering, a graduation project, and practical summer training. Together, these courses give the student a strong background in the core topics of industrial engineering.
The Vision
- The vision of the “Department of Industrial Engineering” is to achieve excellence in teaching industrial engineering at the local and regional levels, and to contribute to improving the well-being of society by advancing the industrial engineering profession and graduating qualified industrial engineers who can work and manage their tasks and responsibilities efficiently, and who possess the skill to continue learning, gaining experience, and responding to change. Contributing to the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, and providing innovative products and services.
Program Mission
The graduate of industrial engineering at Almaarefa University must be technically superior, have scientific and practical knowledge of industrial engineering, equipped with communication skills, able to meet the needs and challenges of the technical community, and excel at working professionally in various specialized industrial fields.
Program Goals
- Providing graduates with quality and diverse knowledge and practical experience to prepare them as skilled industrial engineers.
- Providing an educational environment for students that provides them with the knowledge and skills that enable them to analyze, make decisions and solve problems.
- Providing graduates with various cognitive and communication skills that help them succeed in their professional lives through work teams, initiative, critical thinking, professional ethics, taking responsibility, and playing influential roles in their organizations and communities.
- Identify and exploit opportunities in the areas of research in industrial engineering, and benefit from their results in a scientific, evidence-based manner.
- Providing graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary for self-development and lifelong learning.
- Enhancing the student's ability to apply engineering principles and knowledge in solving industrial engineering problems.
- Qualifying the graduate to be able to continue his graduate studies after the bachelor’s degree, and to succeed in academic and research life.
