A Word for the Head of the Department

Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon the Master of all creation.

 I am pleased to welcome you to the Nursing Department website, established since the inception of Almaarefa University in 2009. The Nursing Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program aimed at preparing competent students in the field of nursing knowledge, clinical skills, and leadership. Additionally, the program aims to enhance students' research skills and engage them in community and volunteer work to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services in Saudi Arabia. The Nursing Department comprises a group of highly qualified and experienced faculty members in various nursing specialties. The department also features state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with the latest medical equipment and modern simulation techniques to aid in student training and practical simulation.

The number of credit hours for the program is 137 hours divided into eight levels of study for a period of four years, in addition to a year that students spend in the hospital for practical training. Finally, I wish all those enrolled in the nursing program success and good fortune, and I hope that the content of this website will be useful to our dear visitors.

Program Goals

  • Providing nursing graduates with the knowledge, behavior and clinical competencies to provide high-quality nursing care
  • Preparing nursing graduates with communication, critical thinking, management, and leadership skills to enhance their success in professional life
  • Providing nursing graduates with appropriate techniques to evaluate information in an effective religious and ethical manner
  • Ensure that nursing graduates possess the necessary skills to conduct scientific research in the field of nursing, to benefit from its results in the professional practice of nursing
  • Promoting nursing students’ participation in community services with ethical standards
  • Providing nursing graduates with an educational environment to demonstrate self-professional development and lifelong learning

Degree Requirements

  • Successfully completing at least four years of study, which is equivalent to 135 credit hours, so that the student successfully completes the approved study units from the general education courses at Almaarefa University, a number of approved study units from the compulsory courses in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and a number of approved study units from Nursing specialty courses.
  • Completing clinical training in the internship year (no less than 48 weeks of training), during which the student practices the knowledge and skills he has learned in his studies through practical clinical application in a hospital.

Stages of the Study Plan

The study plan is divided into three stages, as follows: 

Stage 1: One year (two semesters) of preparatory studies, in which science and general subjects are taught, in addition to the English language. 

Stage 2: Three years (six semesters) in which basic medical and natural sciences and clinical and theoretical nursing specialization courses are taught.

Stage 3: A full year (at least 48 weeks of training, two credit hours) of applied clinical training (internship) spent by the student in various departments in hospitals accredited by the university.
